111 – Al-Ḥusayn narrated to us; ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; ʿAlī ibn al-Jaʿd narrated to us. He said: I heard al-Ḥasan ibn Ḥayy say, “They were discussing the most ascetic of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the presence of ʿUmar ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz. Some said, ‘ʿUmar,’ and others ⦗93⦘ named so-and-so. ʿUmar ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz then declared, ‘ʿAlī—may Allah honor his face.’”
