Chapter: Prayer Inside the Kaʿba and Around It
It is permissible to pray inside the Kaʿba, whether the prayer is obligatory or supererogatory. If the imam leads a group inside and some of them place the imam behind their backs, their prayer is valid; but anyone who turns his back toward the imam’s face—so that he is facing the imam—his prayer is invalid.
If the imam conducts the prayer in al-Masjid al-Ḥarām, the people form circles around the Kaʿba and follow him. Whoever among them is closer to the Kaʿba than the imam, his prayer is sound provided he is not standing directly at the imam’s side.
Whoever prays on the roof of the Kaʿba, his prayer is valid.
