Chapter: The Night Prayer of Ramadan (Qiyām)

It is recommended that the people gather in the month of Ramadan after the ʿIshāʾ prayer. Their imam then leads them in five tarawīḥ units, each unit concluded with two salāms. He sits between every two tarawīḥ for roughly the length of one tarawīḥ, after which he leads them in the witr prayer. Outside Ramadan, witr is not to be performed in congregation.
