Qa'ida fi al-SabrIbn Taimiya

Eleventh Aspect

He should realize that patience is one-half of faith5, and therefore must not barter6 away any portion7 of his faith to vindicate himself. If he remains patient8, he will have safeguarded his faith and protected it from deficiency, and Allah—exalted is He—defends those who believe.

(5) The report pointing to this has already been cited; see pp. 23–25. (6) This is how it appears in the base manuscript; the likely correct reading is "yabdhul" (to expend). (7) In manuscript B: "jaraan". (8) In manuscript B: "fa-idha".
