They are Rafidites (1) who recognize no valid congregational prayer (2) unless it is led by one of their own imams. They hold that the obligatory prayers may be delayed beyond their appointed times, that the fast may commence before the new crescent is sighted (3) and be broken before it is seen again. They permit marriage without a guardian or any overseeing authority, consider temporary marriage lawful in their religion (4), and regard the exchange of one dirham for two (5), hand-to-hand, as permissible (6). They do not allow praying in leather socks, nor wiping over them in ablution (7). They concede no obedience to the ruler, nor do they believe that Quraysh possess any right to the caliphate (8)(9). In many other matters (10) they oppose Islam and its people. It is misguidance enough (11) for any group that this should be their opinion, their doctrine, and their religion (12); they have no share in Islam.
