Ijma' as-Salaf fi al-I'tiqadAl-Kirmani

in which case the hadith is reported exactly as it has come, and just as it has been transmitted you must deem it true (1), accept it, and know (2) that it is precisely as it was narrated—whether it concerns abandoning the prayer, drinking wine, or the like; or when a person introduces an innovation whose perpetrator is thereby branded with unbelief and deemed to have left Islam. Adhere to the transmitted evidence (3) in such matters and do not go beyond it.

  • I do not like to pray behind the people of innovation, nor to perform the funeral prayer for any of them who dies (4).
  • The one-eyed Dajjal (5) will certainly emerge; there is no doubt or hesitation about that, and he is the most deceitful of liars.
  • The punishment of the grave is true: the servant will be questioned about his Lord, his Prophet, and his religion (6), and he will be shown his place, whether in Paradise or in Hell (7)(8).
(1) In manuscript T: “and we believe him,” while manuscript H reads: “then we believe him.” (2) Manuscript H alone adds: “we accept it, and we know.” (3) Manuscript T has: “so follow,” whereas manuscript H reads: “so follow that and do not go beyond it.” (4) Omitted in both T and H. (5) Supplied from both T and H. (6) In T and H: “The servant is questioned about his religion, about his Lord, about Paradise, and about the Fire.” (7) Omitted in both T and H. (8) As related from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): “When the servant is placed in his grave and his companions turn away and leave—so that he even hears the sound of their sandals—two angels come to him, seat him upright and say, ‘What did you use to say about this man, Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)?’ He will answer, ‘I testify that he is the servant of Allah and His Messenger.’ He is then told, ‘Look at your seat in the Fire; it has been exchanged for…’”
