—and of the Ḥijāz and greater Syria, and others who remained steadfast upon it (1). We received knowledge from them. Therefore, whoever contradicts any of these doctrines, or speaks ill of them, or disparages the one who espouses them, is a dissenter (2), an innovator, cast out (3) from the Community, removed from the path of the Sunnah and the way of truth. He said (4): This is likewise the creed of Aḥmad (5), Isḥāq ibn Ibrāhīm ibn Mukhallad (6), ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Zubayr al-Humaydī (7), Saʿīd ibn Manṣūr (8), and others with whom we sat.

He died in Mecca in 219 AH/834 CE (some say later). Al-Hakim remarked: whenever al-Bukhari located a hadith in Humaydi’s collection he would not turn to any other source.
