[THE PRAYER FOR RAIN]
133—The prayer for rain is a sunnah when people are in dire need due to a lack of water1.
134—It is performed like the Eid prayer, in an open field.
135—One goes out to perform it in humility, self-abasement, and earnest supplication.
136—He then performs two prayer units,
137—then delivers a single sermon in which he frequently seeks forgiveness and recites the verses that command it,
(1) Shaykh Ibn Aqīl said: “It is also prescribed when the land is afflicted by drought.”
