—Then he prostrates on his seven body parts, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “I was commanded to prostrate on seven bones: the forehead”—and he pointed to his nose—“the palms, the knees, and the toes.” Reported by al-Bukhari and Muslim1.
—He says, “Glory be to my Lord, the Most High”2.
—Then he says, “Allah is the Greatest,”
—and sits on his left foot while keeping his right foot upright. This is the iftirāsh posture.
—He does this in all the sitting postures of the prayer3, except during the final tashahhud4, when he assumes the tawarruk posture by sitting on the ground and bringing his left leg out beneath his right side.
—He says, “My Lord, forgive me, have mercy on me, guide me, provide for me, mend me, and grant me well-being”5.
