Manhaj al-Salikin wa Tawdih al-Fiqh fi al-DinAbd al-Rahman al-Sadi’

23—After relieving himself1, he should:
1—Cleanse himself with three stones, or similar materials that clean the area.
2—Then wash himself with water.

24—It is sufficient to use either method on its own.

25—He must not cleanse himself:
1—With dung or bones, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade this2.
2—Nor with anything else that must be treated with respect.

1. The Shaykh said in *al-Mukhtārāt al-Jaliyya*, p. 11: “The correct view is that stroking or shaking the penis to expel residual urine is not recommended, since the hadith concerning these practices is not established and doing so gives rise to obsessive doubts.” 2. Manuscript T reads: “because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade it.” Narrated by al-Bukhārī, 1/255, from Abū Hurayra, and by Muslim, no. 263, from Jābir.
