‘O Allah, I intend to perform Hajj or ʿUmrah; make it easy for me and accept it from me….’ This wording is not authentically reported from the Prophet ﷺ. The same is true of pronouncing one’s intention for purification, prayer, or fasting; all of that falls under newly-invented matters. It is well known that he ﷺ said: ‘…for every newly-invented matter is an innovation, every innovation is misguidance, and every misguidance is in the Fire.’
