Min Aalam al-MujaddidinSalih Al-Fawzan

The Shaykh replied to this allegation, saying: All of it is sheer lies and calumny designed to turn people away from the religion of Allah and His Messenger. If we do not declare unbelief against those who, out of ignorance and for lack of anyone to admonish them, worship the idol erected over ʿAbd al-Qādir or the idol placed upon Aḥmad al-Badawī’s grave and the like, then how could we pronounce takfīr on someone who commits no shirk with Allah, merely because he has not migrated to us or has not himself declared takfīr and fought?1 “Glory be to You—this is a monstrous slander.”2 See al-Durar, 1/66.

  1. They said: He denies intercession. The Shaykh answered: It is further reported to us that the enemies of Islam, who drive people away from it, claim we reject the intercession of the Messenger ﷺ. We say in response, “Glory be to You—this is a monstrous slander.” On the contrary, we testify that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is the accepted intercessor, the possessor of the Praiseworthy Station. We ask Allah the Most Generous, Lord of the Mighty Throne, to grant us his intercession and to gather us beneath his banner. This is our creed, and it is the path followed by the righteous predecessors—the Muhājirūn, the Anṣār, their followers, the followers of those followers, and all four Imāms, may Allah be pleased with them. They were the people who loved their Prophet most and adhered to him and his law most faithfully. If they gathered at his grave to seek his intercession, their consensus is proof; yet whoever claims that intercession may be sought from him after his death must produce evidence from the Book of Allah, the Sunnah of His Messenger ﷺ, or the consensus of the ummah—for truth is worthier of being followed … End.3
(1) This means that he did not pronounce takfir on the Muslims or fight them. (2) Surah al-Nur, verse 16. (3) Al-Durar al-Saniyya, vol. 1, p. 46.
