of all creation, barefoot, naked, and uncircumcised, the sun drawn close to them; the balances will be set up and the deeds of the servants weighed—
“Those whose scales are heavy will be the successful, but those whose scales are light are the ones who have ruined themselves; they shall remain in Hell forever.” 1
The scrolls will be spread open: one man will take his book in his right hand and another will take his in his left. I believe in the Basin of our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ on the Plain of Resurrection: its water is whiter than milk and sweeter than honey, and its cups are as numerous as the stars in the sky. Whoever drinks from it once will never again experience thirst.
I believe that the Bridge (sirāt) will be laid across the brink of Hell and that people will cross it in proportion to their deeds. I affirm the intercession of the Prophet ﷺ—he will be the first to intercede and the first whose intercession is accepted. None deny the intercession of the Prophet ﷺ save the people of innovation and misguidance. Yet that intercession will occur only after permission and approval have been granted, as Allah the Exalted says, “They do not intercede except for those with whom He is pleased,” 2 and, “Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission?” 3 and, “How many an angel there is in the heavens whose intercession will avail nothing except after Allah gives leave to whom He wills and is pleased with.” 4 He is pleased only with monotheism and grants permission only to its adherents. As for the polytheists, they have no share in any intercession, as He says, “So the intercession of the intercessors will be of no benefit to them.” 5
I believe that Paradise and Hell are both created, that they exist even now, and that they will never perish; and that the believers will behold their Lord with their own eyes on the Day of Resurrection just as they see—
