Al-Tirmidhī also related from Anas ibn Mālik—may Allah be pleased with him—who said: “A man came to the Prophet—may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him—and said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, I intend to travel, so grant me some provision.’ He replied, ‘May Allah grant you fear of Him as your provision.’ The man said, ‘Give me more.’ He said, ‘And may He forgive your sin.’ The man said, ‘Give me more—may my father and mother be sacrificed for you.’ He said, ‘And may He facilitate goodness for you wherever you may be.’”1.
The Prophet—may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him—would advise anyone intending to travel to supplicate for those he was leaving behind, that they remain in Allah’s safekeeping and protection. Ibn al-Sunnī related in The Deeds of the Day and Night from Mūsā ibn Wardān, who said: “I went to Abū Hurayra to bid him farewell before a journey I intended to make. Abū Hurayra—may Allah be pleased with him—said, ‘My nephew, shall I teach you something that the Messenger of Allah—may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him—taught me to say when bidding farewell?’ I replied, ‘Certainly.’ He said, ‘Say: I entrust you to Allah, with whom no trust is ever lost.’” Ibn Mājah also related from Abū Hurayra that he said, “The Messenger of Allah—may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him—bade me farewell and said”—and he mentioned the same supplication2. This means that Allah—Glorified is He—preserves whatever is entrusted to Him.
It is related in the Musnad that the Prophet—may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him—said: “Luqmān the Wise used to say: ‘Whenever something is entrusted to Allah—Majestic is His Glory—He preserves it.’”3.
We therefore ask Allah to preserve our religion for us and to grant us all success in every good.
