and I seek refuge in You, my Lord, lest they come near me.” 1.
We have already discussed various remembrances by which those who recite them are protected from Satan, such as mentioning Allah’s name when entering the home and before eating, and reciting the Throne Verse when a Muslim retires to bed. If he recites it, a guardian from Allah remains over him, and no devil approaches him until morning. Whoever says ten times in the morning, “None has the right to be worshipped but Allah alone, without partner. To Him belongs all sovereignty and to Him is all praise, and He has power over all things,” remains protected from Satan until evening; and whoever says it in the evening remains protected from Satan until morning. Whoever recites the final two verses of Sūrat al-Baqara at night, they suffice him—that is, against every evil, including the evil of Satan. Likewise, when leaving his home, if a Muslim says, “In the name of Allah; I place my trust in Allah; there is no might nor power except through Allah,” Satan withdraws from him. There are many other blessed remembrances transmitted in the sunnah of the noble Prophet—may Allah’s prayers, peace, and blessings be upon him and upon all his family and Companions.
