Fiqh al-Adiyah wa-al-AdhkarAbd al-Razzaq ibn Abd al-Muhsin al-Badr

Scholars hold two views as to whether the angels who hasten to record these words are the recording angels or others. The more likely view—and Allah Most High knows best—is that they are not the recording angels. This is supported by the report in Sahih al-Bukhārī in which the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said, “Allah has angels who roam the roads seeking out the people of remembrance,” to the end of the hadith. Another wording states, “in addition to those who record people’s deeds.”1 Scholars have cited this as evidence that some acts of obedience may be recorded by angels other than the recording angels. And Allah knows best.
