Fiqh al-Adiyah wa-al-AdhkarAbd al-Razzaq ibn Abd al-Muhsin al-Badr

This, then, is the sum of what is authentically established from the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—concerning remembrances associated with ablution. Ibn al-Qayyim—may Allah have mercy on him—said: “It is not reliably reported that he [meaning the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him] said anything during his ablution other than mentioning Allah’s name. Every hadith concerning remembrances to be recited during ablution is a fabricated lie; the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—said none of it.”1 He—may Allah have mercy on him—then excepted the hadith concerning mentioning Allah’s name and the two aforementioned hadiths of Umar and Abū Sa‘īd.

Allah alone grants success and guides to the straight path.
