Qatāda would complete the Quran every seven days throughout the year, every three days during Ramadan, and every night during its final ten nights.

When Ramadan began, al-Zuhrī would say, “This month is solely for reciting the Quran and feeding others.”

When Ramadan began, Mālik, may Allah have mercy on him, would withdraw from reading hadith and attending the gatherings of scholars, devoting himself instead to reciting the Quran from the written copy.

Qatāda would study the Quran during the month of Ramadan.

When Ramadan began, Sufyān al-Thawrī would set aside all other acts of worship and devote himself to reciting the Quran.

Reports from them to this effect are numerous1. May Allah grant us and you the grace to follow them faithfully and walk in their footsteps. We ask Him—Blessed and Exalted is He—by His Most Beautiful Names and His Most Exalted Attributes to make the Glorious Quran the springtime of our hearts, a light within our breasts, the dispeller of our sorrows, and the remover of our worries and distress. He is indeed the One Who can bestow this and has full power to do so.
