the great declarations and absolutely the noblest of them. Indeed, it is the cornerstone and foundation of the religion and its paramount principle. For its sake creation was brought into being, the messengers were sent, and the Books were revealed. Through it, people were divided into believers and disbelievers. It is the essence of the messengers’ call and the sum of their messages, and it is the greatest blessing Allah has bestowed upon His servants. In this regard, Sufyān ibn Uyayna (may Allah have mercy on him) said: “Allah has bestowed no blessing upon His servants greater than making known to them that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah.”1.
The declaration “There is no deity worthy of worship except Allah” is a declaration of sincerity and monotheism, a rejection of polytheism, and a disavowal of it and its adherents. Allah Most High says: “And when Abraham said to his father and his people, ‘I am indeed free of what you worship, except the One who created me, for He will surely guide me.’ And he made it an enduring declaration among his descendants, so that they might return.” 2.
If a servant enters the morning adhering to this magnificent declaration, without having altered or exchanged it, he has entered the morning in the best condition. Because of the great importance of beginning the day with this magnificent declaration, we are encouraged to repeat it many times every morning. The reward of one who says it ten times upon entering the morning, and the reward of one who says it one hundred times upon entering the morning, have already been mentioned.
His words, “and upon the religion of our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him),” mean: We have entered the morning adhering to that magnificent religion which Allah approved as the religion of His servants and with which He sent His noble Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). Regarding it, Glorified is He, He says: “Today I have perfected your religion for you, completed My blessing upon you, and chosen Islam as your religion.” 3. And Glorified is He says: “Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allah is Islam.” 4,
