al-Khattāb (may Allah be pleased with him), in which he said: “O Allah, punish the disbelievers among the People of the Book who bar others from Your path, deny Your signs, reject Your messengers, and transgress Your limits…” and so on to the end of his supplication—may Allah be pleased with him.1
Among Muslims are also those whom poverty has deprived of sleep and need has rendered helpless. Some may have no clothing to cover themselves, shelter to house them, food to satisfy and nourish them, or drink to quench their thirst. Indeed, some have met their deaths amid deadly famines and devastating drought. They need sincere prayers that Allah enrich their poor, feed their hungry, clothe those without clothing, meet their needs, and relieve their destitution, along with all other forms of concern for the affairs of Muslims, wishing them well, and praying for them. All of this springs from the bond of faith that unites them and brings their hearts together. Allah Most High says: “The believers are but brothers.” 2 He also says: “The believing men and women are allies of one another.” 3 In the hadith, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “The likeness of the believers in their mutual affection and mercy is that of a single body: when one limb suffers, the rest of the body responds with sleeplessness and fever.” Narrated by al-Bukhārī and Muslim.4
