Fiqh al-Adiyah wa-al-AdhkarAbd al-Razzaq ibn Abd al-Muhsin al-Badr

are matched by no other necessity or need. Rather, they surpass every necessity and are greater than every need. The Noble Quran is replete with mention of the servants’ need for Allah alone, the blessings He has bestowed upon them, and the various delights and pleasures He has promised them in the Hereafter. The servant’s knowledge of this enables him to rely fully upon Allah, show Him perfect gratitude, love Him for His beneficence, and turn to Him alone in all matters—small and great, subtle and manifest1.

We ask Allah, the Most Generous, to enable us to realize this and fulfill it well; never to leave us to ourselves for the blink of an eye or even less; and to guide us to Him along a straight path.
