some examples from Quranic verses. The Noble Quran abounds with verses that fall under these categories, and they are readily accessible to anyone who reads the Noble Quran and reflects upon its verses. How excellent and splendid are the words of Imam al-Shawkānī—may Allah have mercy on him—spoken in another context yet perfectly applicable to ours. He said—may Allah have mercy on him: “Know that anyone who reads the Magnificent Quran has no need for verses to be cited in order to establish each of these objectives. If he takes up the noble copy of the Quran, he will encounter this wherever he wishes, in whatever passage he pleases, and at whatever point he chooses; he will find it replete with this from beginning to end.”1 Thus ends his statement—may Allah have mercy on him.
Indeed, the entire Noble Quran is a book devoted to the remembrance of Allah. The remembrance of Allah, Exalted is He, is the heart, spirit, essence, and ultimate purpose of the Quran. Allah, the Exalted, says: “This is a blessed Book which We have revealed to you, so that they may reflect upon its verses and so that people of understanding may take heed.” 2 The Exalted also says: “Indeed, in this is a reminder for whoever has a heart or listens attentively while fully present.” 3 The Exalted further says: “Indeed, this Quran guides to that which is most upright and gives glad tidings to the believers who perform righteous deeds that they will have a great reward.” 4 And the Exalted says: “So remind through the Quran whoever fears My warning.” 5 There are many verses conveying this meaning.
