those purveyors of falsehood. When the monks heard this, they said to him, “The religion you have described is better than the religion that we and these people follow.” Then they departed from him1.

This account contains admonition, a lesson, and various benefits. Foremost among them is the necessity of adhering carefully to the religion of Allah, Glorious and Exalted, exactly as it has come down and been transmitted, far removed from the deviations of those who lead others astray and the error of those who promote falsehood. Allah alone is the One whose help is sought.
