Thus, those who remember Allah abundantly receive the greatest share and fullest portion of Allah’s remembrance of them and of the blessings that He and His angels bestow upon them. It is related that Ibn Abbās—may Allah be pleased with him and his father—said in explanation of the verse: “When you do so—that is, when you remember Allah abundantly—Allah and His angels bestow blessings upon you.”
Allah’s blessing upon His servants who remember Him is His praise of them in the Highest Assembly, among the noble and righteous angels. The angels’ blessing upon them means that they supplicate and seek forgiveness for them, as Allah Most High says:
“Those who bear the Throne and those around it glorify their Lord with praise, believe in Him, and seek forgiveness for those who believe: ‘Our Lord, Your mercy and knowledge encompass all things. Forgive, then, those who repent and follow Your way, and protect them from the punishment of Hellfire. Our Lord, admit them into the Gardens of Eden which You have promised them, together with the righteous among their forefathers, spouses, and descendants. You alone are the Almighty, the All-Wise. Protect them from evil deeds. Whoever You protect from evil deeds on that Day, You have certainly shown mercy to—and that is the supreme triumph.’” 1.
Al-Bukhārī related in his Sahīh that Abū al-Āliyah—may Allah have mercy upon him—said regarding the meaning of Allah Most High’s words, “Indeed, Allah and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet. O you who believe, invoke blessings upon him and greet him with worthy greetings of peace” 2: “Allah’s blessing is His praise of him before the angels, while the angels’ blessing is supplication.”3.
Then Allah—blessed and exalted is He—through His mercy toward those who remember Him abundantly, His praise of them, and His angels’ supplication for them, brings them out of darkness into light. Hence He says:
