Fiqh al-Adiyah wa-al-AdhkarAbd al-Razzaq ibn Abd al-Muhsin al-Badr

The scholars have unanimously agreed that anyone who directs any supplication to other than Allah is one who associates partners with Allah Almighty, even if he says, “There is no deity except Allah, and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah,” and even if he prays and fasts. For a condition of Islam is that none be worshipped except Allah. Therefore, whoever desires triumph and happiness for himself must beware of this manifest sin and grave danger.

We ask Allah, the Most Generous, to spare us and the Muslims from that and to protect us from error in word and deed. He is indeed the One entrusted with this and the One fully able to accomplish it.
