it contains of the remembrance of Allah is greater than its restraining indecency and wrongdoing.”1 Here ends his statement—may Allah have mercy on him.
Salmān al-Fārisi—may Allah be pleased with him—was asked, “Which deed is best?” He replied, “Have you not read in the Quran: ‘And the remembrance of Allah is greater’?”
Ibn Abī al-Dunyā reported that Ibn ʿAbbās—may Allah be pleased with them both—was asked, “Which deed is best?” He replied, “The remembrance of Allah is greater.”2
Thus Allah is supremely great; abundant praise belongs to Allah; and glory be to Allah morning and evening—in a measure that fills His heavens, His earth, all that lies between them, and whatever else He wills beyond that, without ceasing, perishing, or passing away; as many times as those who praise Him have praised Him and as many times as the heedless have failed to remember Him; as numerous as His creation, to the measure of His good pleasure, equal to the weight of His Throne and to the ink of His words. May Allah bestow His blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his family and Companions.
