guidance, forgiveness, success, assistance in obeying Him, and the like. He—glorified is He—has promised to answer them in all of this.
It also demonstrates the perfection of Allah’s power and dominion, and that His dominion and treasuries are neither exhausted nor diminished by giving—even if He were to grant the first and the last of the jinn and humankind everything they asked for in a single gathering. This encourages people to ask Him abundantly and bring every need before Him. In the two Sahih collections, Abū Hurayra (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Allah’s Hand is full; spending does not diminish it. He gives unceasingly by night and day. Abū Saīd al-Khudrī (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “When you supplicate to Allah, ask for much, for nothing that He possesses is ever exhausted. When you supplicate, ask with resolve, for no one can compel Allah.”3
Reflect upon His words—glorified is He—in the preceding hadith: “That would diminish what I possess no more than a needle diminishes the sea when dipped into it.” This emphatically confirms that what Allah possesses
