Fiqh al-Adiyah wa-al-AdhkarAbd al-Razzaq ibn Abd al-Muhsin al-Badr

His creation praises Him with. To Him belongs all praise, at the beginning and at the end—abundant, wholesome, and blessed praise, as befits the nobility of His Countenance, the might of His Majesty, the sublimity of His glory, and His exalted greatness.”1.

Just as He—Glorified be He—is praised for His Names and attributes, He is likewise praised for His grace, His giving, and His blessings, on account of “His immense gifts, His boundless bestowals, His gracious favors, His beautiful acts of kindness, His excellent treatment of His servants, the vastness of His mercy toward them, His goodness, gentleness, and compassion, His answering the prayers of those in desperate need, relieving the distress of the afflicted, succoring the anguished, showing mercy to all creation, and initiating blessings even before He is asked,” as well as His many other blessings and gifts. Foremost and greatest among these are “His guiding His elect and His servants to the path leading to the Abode of Peace, defending them in the finest manner, protecting them from the haunts of sin, making faith beloved to them and beautifying it in their hearts, making disbelief, wickedness, and disobedience hateful to them, and placing them among the rightly guided.”2.

All praise, then, belongs to Allah, Lord of all creation—abundant, wholesome, and blessed praise, as our Lord loves and is pleased with, and as befits the nobility of His Countenance and the might of His Majesty: praise that fills the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, and whatever else our Lord wills beyond that; praise encompassing every form of praise due to Him, those we know and those we do not; for all His blessings, those we know and those we do not; as numerous as the praises offered by those who praise Him and the moments when the heedless neglect His remembrance; and as numerous as all that His Pen has inscribed, His Book has enumerated, and His knowledge has encompassed.
