Fiqh al-Adiyah wa-al-AdhkarAbd al-Razzaq ibn Abd al-Muhsin al-Badr

This is unquestionably the true position on this matter. Allah—Mighty and Majestic is He—is the One in whose hand are the reins of all affairs. He has power over all things, and He, Glorified is He, is the One who caused everything to speak. No matter is too great for Him, and nothing on earth or in heaven can thwart Him. When He wills something, His command is only to say to it, “Be!” and it is.

As for the claim that this glorification is not real but is merely glorification through the testimony of its state, it is a claim that departs from the truth, is far removed from what is correct, and is supported by no evidence. Rather, the evidence clearly establishes that it is unsound.

This is no more astonishing than the pebbles glorifying Allah in the hand of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him, or food glorifying Him as it was being eaten. The Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, used to hear this.

Al-Bukhārī narrated in his Sahīh from Abdullah ibn Masūd, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: “We used to regard miraculous signs as blessings, whereas you regard them as warnings. We were with the Messenger of Allah, may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him, on a journey when water became scarce. He said, ‘Look for any water that remains.’ They brought a vessel containing a little water. He placed his hand in the vessel and then said, ‘Come to the blessed water of purification; blessing is from Allah.’ I saw water springing from between the fingers of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him, and we could hear the food glorifying Allah as it was being eaten.” 1.

What a magnificent sign of Allah this is, demonstrating the perfection of the One who sent the Messenger—Glorified is He—and the truthfulness of the Messenger, may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him.

Al-Tabarānī narrated in al-Mujam al-Awsat, as did Abū Nuaym in Dalāil al-Nubuwwa, from Abū Dharr, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: “I was indeed present with the Prophet, may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him, in a gathering, as he held in his hand
