Ibn Abbās—may Allah be pleased with them both—said: “Satan crouches over the heart of the son of Adam. When he becomes distracted and heedless, Satan whispers; but when he remembers Allah Most High, Satan retreats.”1
We therefore ask Allah Most High to protect us from Satan’s evil, his enticement to associate partners with Allah, his goading, his puffing up, and his poisonous insinuations. Indeed, He is All-Hearing, Responsive, and Near.
