This ruling reflects the sanctity that Islam accords to the Muslim himself, to his property, his honor, and his dignity before Allah.
Such is the justice of Islam and its concern for the safety of society and the orderly protection of its interests: so that lands may thrive, people may live in security, transit between regions may run smoothly, and men and women may travel by night and by day in peace.

How true are the words of the Almighty: “Do they then seek the judgment of pagan ignorance? Yet who is better than Allah in judgment for a people who are certain?” (Q 5:50).
