—with a punishment that truly deters; for wine drags a person into every evil, plunges him into every vice, and turns him away from every good. May Allah protect the Muslims from its harm and peril.

A hadith further warns that, toward the end of time, some people will declare it lawful, disguise it under other names, and drink it. The Muslims must therefore remain wary and vigilant against such evildoers.
