—and in imitation of the unbelievers and the hypocrites as well, exchanging manliness and noble courage for sheer effeminacy—and so on.

“A man in the days of his ordeal is destined … until he comes to regard as fair what is by no means fair.”

Therefore, such people must come back to their senses, let reason prevail, obey the Messenger—peace and blessings be upon him—and keep the beards that Allah has fashioned as an adornment for them and a mark of their masculinity.
