the one through whom he is connected, and he is allotted that person’s share. Hence the children of daughters and of sons’ daughters take the place of their mothers; paternal uncles and aunts take the place of the father; maternal uncles, maternal aunts, and the mother’s father take the place of the mother; while the daughters of brothers and of their sons take the place of their own fathers—and so forth.

The second opinion holds that the inheritance of womb-relatives follows the rules governing agnatic heirs: the nearer of them is given precedence over the more distant. Allah, the All-Knowing, knows best.
