A gift dispels rancor and draws forth affection, for the Messenger ﷺ said, “Exchange gifts, for gifts remove the rancor¹ that lurks in the breasts.” One should not turn away a gift, even if it is modest, and it is recommended to reciprocate, for the Prophet ﷺ would accept gifts and reward the giver in return. Such conduct ranks among the beauties of this religion and the noblest of character traits.
