from it one hundred each year. Should the waqf’s income exceed that figure, the surplus must be held in reserve. Shaykh Taqī al-Dīn said, “If it is known that its revenue is always greater than the stated allowance, the excess must be disbursed, for letting it lie idle leads to waste.”

If a waqf is dedicated to a mosque that later falls into ruin and cannot be repaired from its own income, the endowment is redirected to another mosque of the same type.
