Yet some people treat obligations lightly—especially in the matter of debts—and this is a blameworthy habit. It has made many people shy away from offering loans and easing the hardship of those in need. Consequently, a needy person may be forced to turn to interest-based banks and engage in what Allah has forbidden, simply because he cannot find anyone to grant him a goodly loan. Thus, acts of kindness have almost vanished among the people.
