Chapter: On the Rulings of Sales
Allah, exalted is He, set forth in His Noble Book—and the Prophet ﷺ clarified in his purified sunnah—the rulings that govern transactions, because people constantly need them: they require food to strengthen their bodies, as well as clothing, homes, means of transport, and other necessities and comforts of life.
The permissibility of sale is proven by the Quran, the sunnah, scholarly consensus, and analogical reasoning (qiyās):
The Exalted said, “Allah has permitted trade” (Qur’an 2:275).
And He said, “There is no blame upon you for seeking bounty from your Lord” (Qur’an 2:198).
The Prophet ﷺ said: “The two parties to a sale retain the choice (of rescinding) as long as they have not parted. If they speak truthfully and make things clear, their transaction will be blessed; but if they lie and conceal, the blessing of their sale will be erased.”
The scholars are unanimously agreed on this in principle.
