Tamattuʿ is to enter ihram for ʿumrah during the months of Hajj, complete the ʿumrah, and then, in that same year, enter ihram once more for Hajj.
Ifrād is to enter ihram for Hajj alone at the miqāt and remain in that state until all the rites of Hajj have been completed.
Qirān is to enter ihram for ʿumrah and Hajj together, or to begin with ʿumrah and then add the intention of Hajj to it before starting the tawāf of ʿumrah; in either case he intends both rites at the miqāt or before the tawāf, and performs one tawāf and one saʿy on behalf of them both.
A compensatory sacrifice (fidya) is required of the mutamattiʿ and the qārin, provided they are not residents of the Sacred Mosque area.
Of these three forms, the most excellent is tamattuʿ, as many evidences confirm.
After assuming any of these rites he should immediately pronounce the talbiyah, saying: Labbaika allāhumma labbaik, labbaika lā sharīka laka labbaik, inna l-ḥamda wan-niʿmata laka wal-mulk, lā sharīka lak (Here I am, O Allah, here I am; here I am, You have no partner, here I am. Truly, all praise and favor are Yours, and the dominion; You have no partner). He repeats the talbiyah frequently and raises his voice while doing so.
