Chapter on the Siwāk and the Practices of the Fiṭrah
The Mother of the Believers ʿĀʾishah (may Allah be pleased with her) related that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “The siwāk (toothstick) purifies the mouth and earns the Lord’s pleasure.” Recorded by Aḥmad and others.
Al-Bukhārī and Muslim likewise report from Abū Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Five acts are part of the fiṭrah (natural disposition): shaving the pubic hair, circumcision, trimming the moustache, plucking the armpit hair, and clipping the nails.”
They also transmit from Ibn ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with both of them) in a marfūʿ narration: “Clip the moustaches closely and let the beards grow.”
