served as a reminder to the ummah of what had taken place on that day and what is yet to come. The verse of prostration was merely incidental; the worshipper did not choose the recitation because it contains a sajdah, whatever surah it may occur in.
Among the distinctive features of Friday is the recommendation to abundantly invoke blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ during the day and its preceding night, for he ﷺ said, “Increase your prayers upon me on the day of Friday and the night of Friday,” reported by al-Bayhaqi.
One of the greatest hallmarks of Friday is the Friday prayer itself, which is among the most emphatic obligations of Islam and the largest gatherings of the Muslims. Whoever abandons it out of negligence, Allah seals his heart.
Another of Friday’s special rulings is the command to bathe on that day; it is a highly confirmed sunnah. Some scholars regard it as categorically obligatory, while others limit that obligation to those whose odor requires removal.
It is also recommended to apply perfume on Friday, and perfuming oneself on that day is superior to doing so on any other day of the week.
