Chapter: Remembrance after the Prayer
Allah, Exalted and Sublime, says: “O you who believe, remember Allah with much remembrance and glorify Him morning and evening” (Qur’an 33:41–42).
He, glorified be He, has singled out the command to remember Him after the performance of the various acts of worship:
• He instructed that He be remembered when the prayers are finished, saying: “When you have completed the prayer, remember Allah standing, sitting, and lying on your sides” (Qur’an 4:103); and He also said: “When the prayer is concluded, disperse through the land, seek the bounty of Allah, and remember Allah often so that you may succeed” (Qur’an 62:10).
• He enjoined His remembrance upon completing the fast of Ramadan: “So that you may complete the prescribed period and magnify Allah for guiding you, and perhaps you will be grateful” (Qur’an 2:185).
• And He ordered His remembrance after the rites of pilgrimage have been concluded: “When you have completed your rites, remember Allah as you remember your forefathers, or with even stronger remembrance” (Qur’an 2:200).
