Yet some people pay no heed to this warning. They keep a dog for purposes other than the three the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, allowed—merely to show off or to imitate the unbelievers—without caring about the loss of reward that ensues. Were the loss to touch their worldly wealth, they would not endure it for a moment. There is no might nor power except with Allah.

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, also informed us that the angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or an image. Let the Muslim, then, fear his Lord and not wrong himself by casting himself into sin and forfeiting reward. Allah is the One whose help is sought.
