ascends, radiating light, and its evidence (1) shines like the light of the sun until it is presented before Allah—[whereupon He is pleased with it] (2) and accepts it (3)—and it says, “May Allah protect you just as you protected me.” (4)

Section (5)
The [Third] Scene (6): The Scene of Conformity and Emulation (7)

It means that one exerts the utmost diligence to follow the Prophet ﷺ in his prayer,

(1) “And proof” is omitted from manuscript C. (2) The original reads, “so that he is pleased with it”; the adopted reading follows manuscripts B and C. (3) “And accepts it” is omitted from manuscript C. (4) This is part of a hadith attributed to the Prophet and narrated from Anas, may Allah be pleased with him. Al-Haythami said: “Al-Tabarani narrated it in al-Awsat, and its chain includes Abbad ibn Kathir, whose weakness has been unanimously acknowledged.” Majma al-Zawa'id, 2:39, no. 1677. Al-Haythami also cited it, attributed to the Prophet, on the authority of Ubadah ibn al-Samit, may Allah be pleased with him, and said: “Al-Tabarani narrated it in al-Kabir, and al-Bazzar narrated something similar. Its chain includes al-Ahwas ibn Hakim, whom Ibn al-Madini and al-Ijli deemed reliable, though a number of scholars considered him weak; the rest of its transmitters have been authenticated.” Majma al-Zawa'id, 2:304-305, no. 2734. The wording of Ubadah's hadith is: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “When a servant performs ablution and does it well, then stands for prayer and completes its bowing, prostration, and recitation, it says: ‘May Allah preserve you as you have preserved me.’ It is then taken up to heaven, possessing radiance and light, and the gates of heaven are opened for it. But if the servant does not perform ablution well, nor complete the bowing, prostration, and recitation, it says: ‘May Allah cause you to be lost as you have neglected me.’ It is then taken up to heaven with darkness upon it, and the gates of heaven are closed. It is then folded up as a worn garment is folded and struck against the face of its owner.” (5) Omitted from manuscript C. (6) The original reads, “the second,” which is an error. (7) “The spiritual state” (al-mashhad), “a spiritual state” (mashhad), and “following” (al-iqtida) are omitted from manuscript C.
