(1) Manuscript C reads: “and he is.” (2) Maʻani al-Quran by al-Farra, 2/274. Al-Farra was Abu Zakariyya Yahya ibn Ziyad ibn Abd Allah al-Daylami. He was among the most accomplished and learned of the Kufan grammarians. It was said: “Had it not been for al-Farra, Arabic would not have endured,” for he refined and codified it. He authored numerous works, including al-Masadir fi al-Quran, al-Jam wa al-Tathniya fi al-Quran, Alat al-Kitab, and al-Hudud. He died on the road to Mecca in 207 AH.
