8 – Minor slips—such as a missing dot or letter—I corrected without remark, and I likewise did not record the resulting variants in order to keep the footnotes from multiplying, unless the small omission carried some significance; in that case I note it and point out the differences.
9 – I prepared indexes for the Qur’anic verses, the hadiths, the early reports, the statements, the personal names, the poetic lines, and the books mentioned in the treatise.
10 – If a manuscript page ended in the middle of a verse, I marked the close of the verse beside the line, without using any symbol.
I thank Allah, the One truly worthy of praise and gratitude, and I thank everyone who helped bring this edition to light—may Allah reward them on my behalf and on behalf of Islam with the best of rewards.
I ask Allah Most High to forgive whatever shortcomings remain in this work; such was the extent of the time available and the knowledge at hand.
Allah knows best. May blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
