Added to all of that is the wealth, effort, energy, and time siphoned off by these festivals—resources wasted by Muslims in the cause of Satan. They distract them from the remembrance of God, from prayer, and from many of the obligatory duties that God has prescribed and His Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, has instituted. Moreover, they are the gateway to frivolity, heedlessness, debauchery, and moral dissolution in the life of both the individual and society.
Will those who still declare such feasts and celebrations permissible for Muslims—who legislate them and claim that Islam has not forbidden them—will they not awaken? If their inner sight is blind to the textual proof, has their outward sight also grown blind to reality? But for anyone to whom Allah has not granted light, there is no light.
It is also worth highlighting the blessing that Allah the Exalted has bestowed upon the Muslims in this land—Saudi Arabia—where, by His grace, He has purified its soil and its people of these festivals and of other innovations practiced around graves and the like. Praise be to Allah, innovations here remain suppressed by the strength of sound creed, the force of clear evidence, and the authority of the state—fruits of the blessed call of Shaykh Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb. This is a favor from Allah upon this country and upon all Muslims; it must be acknowledged, safeguarded, and clung to with one’s very molars. We ask Allah, exalted is He, to grant the leaders of this land success in preserving this blessing, in tending to it as it deserves, and in restraining the foolish who seek to afflict the Muslims of this country with the same innovations, violations, and deviations that have burdened others.
