He ordered that a grave be leveled, and it was done; then he said, “I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, command that graves be leveled.” Muslim narrates this.
Another report from ʿAlī states: “The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, instructed me not to leave any raised grave without leveling it, and not to leave any image without obliterating it.” This too is recorded by Muslim.
God willing, we shall also relate a statement from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmr ibn al-ʿĀṣ who said:
“Whoever settles in the lands of the idolaters and observes their Nawrūz and Mahrajan festivals, remaining there until he dies, will be gathered with them on the Day of Resurrection.”
It is authentically reported from ʿĀʾishah—may Allah be pleased with her—that she disliked placing one’s hands on the hips during prayer and said, “Do not imitate the Jews.” Saʿīd ibn Manṣūr transmitted it in these very words.
