Iqtiḍāʾ al-Ṣirāṭ al-MustaqīmIbn Taimiya

Ibn al-Mubārak (1) was asked about these Kirmānī sandals (2). He did not approve of them and said, “Is what we already have not sufficient, so that we can dispense with those?”

Al-Khallāl (3) relates from Aḥmad ibn Ibrāhīm al-Dawraqī (4) who said: “I asked Saʿīd ibn ʿĀmir about wearing the Sabtiyyah sandals (5). He replied, ‘The dress of our Prophet is dearer to us than the attire of Bākhan, the king of India. Were he to enter the Mosque of Madinah, they would drive him out of the city.’ ”

Saʿīd ibn ʿĀmir al-Ḍubʿī was the foremost scholar of Basra in both knowledge and piety, and he was one of the teachers of the Imām.
