The author also cites the work once more in Majmūʿ al-Fatāwā (10:371), yet there he mentions only the opening part of the title—“Iqtidaʾ al-Ṣirāṭ al-Mustaqīm”—a reading unanimously supported by all the manuscript witnesses.
2 – Date of Composition
With regard to the date of composition, evidence indicates that the book was written before 715 AH, the year in which manuscript A—referred to above—was copied. I have not been able to determine precisely when the work was completed, but internal clues show that it was not among the Shaykh’s earliest writings: throughout the treatise, especially near the end, he frequently refers readers to his previous studies and writings. This strongly suggests that a sizeable body of research and authored works preceded this book—and Allah knows best.
